The Coastal Navigation courses are right around the corner!
Only three days left to register.
Feel free to contact us if you are interested, but these dates don’t work for you. We are planning on running these courses again in later winter (late February, early March) and we would love to accommodate you.
Although there will be some fundamental knowledge concepts covered, these courses are very hands-on with lots of practical exercises.
Class sizes will be relatively small (maximum 5 students) so students won’t be fighting for attention from the instructor when it comes to guiding you through the exercises.
Topics include:
- Reading charts and symbols as well as other publications
- Using tide and current tables
- Plotting dead reckoning, position fixes, danger bearings
- Estimating ETA
- Day vs night appearance of aids to navigation
- The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)
- Automatic Identification System (AIS)
- Using a logbook
